IT for Accounting, Tax, and Bookkeeping Firms
In an accounting office, an IT problem is rarely just the computer. It’s the tax software, the scanner, or the vendor behind one of them, and in filing season timing matters.
Copperband supports CPA firms, tax practices, and bookkeeping offices across Clarksville, Hopkinsville, Nashville, and Middle Tennessee. We support all of that, and because we’re local, we can be on-site when remote support isn’t enough.
How We Work in Accounting Firms
- Tax and accounting software. We regularly work with Drake Tax and software from Thomson Reuters, Intuit, and Wolters Kluwer, along with accounting platforms like QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero. They all have their own updates, integrations, licensing, and quirks. We handle the IT around them, and when the problem belongs to the software vendor, we work with the vendor instead of handing your staff a phone number.
- Scanning, documents, and remote work. Tax work moves through document scanners, check scanners, remote sessions, VPNs, printers, and local applications. We support those pieces together, including scanning and printing through remote sessions. During filing season, a flaky connection or scanner problem can turn into a much bigger problem pretty quickly.
- Email, identity, and account security. Accounting firms handle exactly the kind of financial and personal information that makes email accounts worth going after. We manage filtering, quarantine, email authentication, MFA, passkeys, conditional access, and alerts for suspicious sign-ins or administrator changes. The goal is pretty simple: make it harder for somebody pretending to be you to get very far.
- The day-to-day office. The tax software still needs a good workstation, the monitors need to light up, the printer has to print, the phones have to ring, and the network has to stay out of the way. We handle that stuff too, along with new-user setup and departures. When somebody starts, their tools should be ready. When somebody leaves, their access and records need to be handled correctly.
- Backups and cyber-insurance. We check backup jobs and investigate failures instead of assuming that a green checkmark means everything is fine. And when the cyber-insurance questionnaire shows up, we can handle the technical parts based on what is actually in place: MFA, backups, endpoint protection, email security, access controls, and the rest of it.
