Bar B Que Shack Receives the September 2026 Quality Service Award

Bar B Que Shack received the September 2026 Quality Service Award on September 16, presented by the Christian County Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Copperband Technologies.
For more than 40 years, Bar B Que Shack has been a familiar favorite, building a reputation for great barbecue, friendly service, and a commitment to the communities they call home.
From pork and ribs to chicken, cornbread, and their famous burgoo, Bar B Que Shack has created more than a place to grab a great meal. Generations of customers have walked through their doors, welcomed by a team that understands that quality service is about how you treat people just as much as what you serve.

That spirit of service extends beyond the restaurant and into the community.
Earlier this year, Bar B Que Shack donated lunch for the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Golf Scramble, helping support programs like Warm the Children and other initiatives benefiting children throughout Hopkinsville and Christian County. They also partnered with the Dyslexia Association of the Pennyrile to provide the meal for its annual trivia fundraiser, which supports tutoring and educational resources for children and adults with dyslexia.
Their involvement with Hopkinsville Rotary has included providing chicken and Southern sides for the club’s Roast & Toast fundraiser, as well as donating gift cards to the annual Rotary Auction. Bar B Que Shack gift certificates were also among the prizes offered to encourage people to give at a community blood drive.
Sometimes, serving the community also means helping bring a tradition back to life.
In 2022, when the St. Elmo community revived its barbecue to raise money to restore the historic schoolhouse, owner Mindy Hargrove and Bar B Que Shack catered the meal. More than 500 tickets were sold as neighbors gathered over plates of pork and burgoo, reconnecting with one another and supporting a place that held generations of memories.
These examples help tell the story of a business whose connection to its neighbors reaches well beyond the lunch counter. Their food has been part of gatherings that support education, help local families, preserve history, and bring people together for a shared purpose.
Behind that involvement is a team whose daily work has kept customers coming back for decades. This award recognizes the people preparing the food, welcoming customers, and carrying that tradition of hospitality forward.
Congratulations to Mindy and the entire Bar B Que Shack team.
Copperband was there to present the award. There was a pig, and there were turkey hats.
