IT Support for Contractors, Trades, and Shops
The work doesn’t happen at a desk. It happens in the shop, in the yard, and in a building that has to unlock, connect, and answer the phone before anybody gets anything done.
Copperband supports contractors, trades, builders, fabrication shops, and manufacturing facilities across Clarksville, Hopkinsville, Nashville, and Middle Tennessee. Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, concrete, roofing, metal fabrication, landscaping, and home building. A shop that fabricates, installs, and services what it installed is running three different environments under one roof, and a standard office IT plan was never built for that. We have supported this industry since 2016, and a lot of what is unusual in a general office is not unusual to us. The technology does not stop at the office door. It runs through the shop, the yard, the cameras, the doors, the phones, and the files in the building. We handle all of it, and because we are local, we can be there in person.
How We Work with Contractors and Trades
- IT for the office, shop, and yard. These are not ordinary office environments and we do not support them like one. The network has to carry past the front office, into the shop, and out across the yard, which is a cabling and wireless problem before it is anything else. We support the whole footprint as one environment rather than an office with a few extras bolted on: workstations and email up front, the network and wireless through the buildings, the phones, the cameras, the controlled doors, and the shared files everybody depends on.
- New buildings, expansions, and moves. We have moved and expanded enough of these companies that the sequence is familiar to us. We walk the space before the move, pull and verify the cable, build the network, set the switches and access points, move the equipment, and stand the phones back up on the other end. That includes the parts people forget, like updating the emergency location tied to the phone system so a 911 call from the new building reaches the right responders. Taking over the unit next door is the same job at a smaller scale.
- Physical security and the network behind it. We do this work ourselves. Camera systems and door access control, including lock schedules, temporary codes for someone who needs in this week, and holding a door locked through a holiday. We also own what sits underneath them, because a camera or a door reader is only as good as the cabling, switching, and wireless it depends on, and when one company is responsible for all of it there is nobody to point at.
- The people running the business. In most of these companies the requests come through one person in the office who seems to handle everything, and we work the way that person needs us to. New hires set up and ready before the first morning, access shut off the day somebody leaves, shared mailboxes for roles like operations or the front desk because the role outlasts the person filling it, company email working on the phones that need it, and Microsoft 365 licensing matched to actual headcount instead of paying for seats nobody uses. When the office closes for a holiday, we roll the phones and roll them back.
- Keeping the business running. Internet, switching, wireless, phones, and the server or NAS in the building holding the files the company runs on. We monitor the backups and chase the failures instead of trusting a green checkmark, and we take on the outside vendors when a problem crosses into somebody else’s equipment. None of it is glamorous. It is the technology the business expects to simply work every morning, and keeping it that way is the whole job.
